The Brentwood District Schools Athletics Championships, which is held annually at Melbourne Park was especially poignant this year. Over 500 athletes and staff paid their respects to two pupils who had passed away in the preceding months. Brentwood School pupil, Georgia Cordery was an outstanding athlete and fierce competitor who excelled in the 200m and Long Jump and Lewis Frazer, who was a pupil at St Martin’s was a good all-round sportsman with a real passion for rugby.  In a fitting tribute to these special young adults, two trophies were inaugurated to be awarded to the boy and girl in Year 10 who attained the most first places. This honour was bestowed upon Grace Berry from St Martin’s and Shenfield’s Ashley Purnell who accepted their trophies with dignity from Georgia’s and Lewis’ parents respectively. Pupils, parents and staff were incredibly moved by the presentation and united in their admiration and respect for Georgia and Lewis.
